Using the platform

When you use Galamsey Reporter, you agree to:

• Submit reports in good faith based on what you actually observed
• Follow our community guidelines
• Not use the platform to harass, threaten, or harm others
• Not submit spam, advertising, or content unrelated to illegal mining
• Not create fake accounts or impersonate others
• Keep your account secure (we recommend a strong password)

Your content

You own what you submit. Your reports, photos, and comments belong to you.

By submitting content, you give us permission to display it on the platform, share it with partner organizations, and use it for research and advocacy. We won't sell your content for commercial purposes.

You can request deletion of your reports by contacting support. Some aggregated data may remain for statistical purposes (without identifying you).

What we provide

We provide:

• A platform to submit and view reports of illegal mining
• Basic privacy protections (see our privacy policy)
• Community moderation to maintain quality
• Connections to partner organizations

We don't provide: legal advice, personal protection, emergency services, or guarantees that authorities will act on reports.

Honest limitations

We want to be upfront about what we can't promise:

• We can't guarantee your safety. Reporting illegal mining can carry risks. Use your judgment and prioritize your wellbeing.
• We can't verify all reports. Community verification helps, but some reports may be inaccurate.
• We can't control what partners do. Once reports are shared, we don't control partner organizations' responses.
• The platform may have downtime. We aim for reliability but can't guarantee 100% availability.

Account suspension

We may suspend or remove your account if you violate these terms or our community guidelines. Serious violations (harassment, threats, illegal content) may result in immediate removal.

You can appeal account decisions by contacting us. Different moderators will review appeals.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. We'll notify users of significant changes through the platform. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

Legal details

This platform is provided "as is" without warranties. We're not liable for damages from using the platform, including actions taken (or not taken) based on reports.

These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. Disputes will be resolved through arbitration (a private process where a neutral third party makes a decision) before pursuing court proceedings.

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
